7. คุณ ชื่อ อะไร ครับ/ คะ[khun chêu a-rai kráp/ ká] : What's Your Name?

I’m sure the sentence which I’m going to write today, many people will love it. Because when you meet someone by chance, you don’t know their name yet, so what you will you do.

Right, you should make a question for their name.

Here is the sentence for questioning name in Thai:

คุณ ชื่อ อะไร ครับ/คะ
khun chêu a-rai kráp/ká
What's your name?

คุณ[khun] is as "you"

ชื่อ[chêu] means "name"

อะไร[a-rai] equals "what"

Thai is different to English, if you look at the sentence "คุณชื่ออะไร", it is the question sentence as same as "What's your name?" in English.

We don't use the word "อะไร", which is the same meaning as "what", to lay at the front of the question sentence. On the other hand, we put it at the end of the sentence.

Hence, just use this form for making some more sentences similarly;

.... ชื่อ อะไร ครับ/คะ
.... chêu a-rai kráp/ká
What's .... name?

Just fill out whatever pronoun or noun into the ellipsis as shown in the form above.

For example:

..เขา..ชื่อ อะไร ครับ/คะ
..kao..chêu a-rai kráp/ká
What's..his..name?

..หล่อน..ชื่อ อะไร ครับ/คะ
..lòn..chêu a-rai kráp/ká
What's..her..name?

..ฉัน..ชื่อ อะไร ครับ/คะ
..chăn..chêu a-rai kráp/ká
What's..my..name?
