Sà-wàt-dee kráp / สวัสดีครับ

Hello everyone, I'm Michal Leng. I'm Thai. I write this blog teaching Thai to anyone who is interested to learn Thai.

"Where Is The Restroom Please?" how to speak in Thai language?

My blog consists some sentences of Thai that are necessary for you to speak in your daily life with Thai.

Do you have any plan to come to Thailand, to speak Thai for your business or to communicate with Thai people? Here is the right place for you to kick-off your Thai learning.

How is your Thai for the last lesson I have taught? Hope you keep practicing it.

Well, if you have a chance to come to Thailand whether it is for your business or just for travelling.

You should know the sentence I am going to teach you today. What is it?-you may want to know it now, right?

I insist it is necessary for you and everyone.

Am I right or wrong picking this sentence for teaching you today? To judge my decision after you have learned it until the end.

How do you say how to get to the restroom in Thai?

If you are a man, you use these sentences below:

hông náam hyu thi hnai kráp
Where is the restroom please?

ห้องส้วม อยู่ ที่ ไหน ครับ
hông sûam hyu thi hnai kráp
Where is the restroom please?

If you are a woman, speak with the sentences below:

ห้องน้ำ อยู่ ที่ ไหน คะ
hông náam hyu thi hnai ká
Where is the restroom please?

ห้องส้วม อยู่ ที่ ไหน คะ
hông sûam hyu thi hnai ká
Where is the restroom please?

Okay, then now you will find the sentences being used for reply the above question as follows:

Thai language has some particles adding at the end of each sentence variables with the gender of speakers.

ครับ[kráp] is for a man, whereas ค่ะ[ká] is for a woman to add at the end of the sentences for indicating they respect to the listeners.

You are right. So this coming up sentence is for a man.

อยู่ ตรง มุม ตึก ครับ
hyu throng mum teuk kráp
It is at the corner.

Yes, you are a lady, right? So you just say this.

อยู่ ตรง มุม ตึก ค่ะ
hyu throng mum teuk kâa
It is at the corner.

The two more lines below are without any particle. Any gender can use.

เดิน ตรง ไป 200 เมตร
dern throng bpai sŏng rói met
Go strait ahead for 100 meters.

ห้องน้ำ อยู่ ตรง ซ้ายมือ
hông náam hyu throng saimue
It's on the left.

Well done! You catch them all, right?

If you are in doubt about my Thai lesson, leave me your comment at the end of this post. Then I will be back to rescue you.

Bye,
Michael Leng
